Abstract

Waste is a significant problem and one of the causes of environmental degradation. Its negative impacts include deteriorating sanitation and environmental quality. Waste is categorized into organic and inorganic types. Organic waste comes from living organisms such as humans, animals, and plants. Examples include dry organic waste such as paper, wood, and dry leaves. The objective of this project is to develop a shredder equipped with a mixer, thereby making this device more versatile than standard shredders, and to conduct a structural strength test. The methods used include literature review, surveys, data collection, product specification, product design, component procurement, product development, and testing. Data collection involves observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The components used in the waste shredder consist of an electric welding machine, a grinder, measuring tools, a welding angle magnet, welding goggles, grinding wheels, electrodes, and materials such as hollow steel, shredder blades, an Asahi Moto AMX 200 GX200 drive motor, steel plates, an electric dynamo, angle iron, a drive pulley, a V-belt, and pillow block bearings. The assembly process involves cutting and welding steel for the frame, installing the shredder blades, and assembling other components such as the pulley and electric dynamo. Test results show that the machine’s frame is strong enough to withstand a load of 2019.71 kg with a safety factor of 0.70.
